Golf is one of those games that is absolutely boring to watch, but is super fun to play. It is relaxing and challenging at the same time – it involves getting out in the fresh air in pleasant surroundings, and getting some exercise (there is a lot of walking and swinging arms involved). Professional golfers take their sport very seriously indeed and travel all over the country seeking new challenging courses to play on.
There are many hotels in the country which offer golfing activities. Some hotels have their very own golf course on site, whilst others have unique relationships with golf courses nearby. Hotels with golf courses are extremely popular all over England. This way, one can indulge in golf, whilst enjoying the perks of a hotel as well. Many golf resorts and hotels have spa facilities for the non-golfer in your party to enjoy some relaxation while the golfers are out on the golf course.
There are several hotels with golf courses situated in some of the most idyllic locations throughout England. The West Midlands is a great region for a golf break in the UK due to its central location - with a number of decent courses easily accessible from all corners of the country. In West Country, there are golf courses in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire. There are several courses in the North of England, particularly in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Isle of Man and more. There are now many golf courses in the South of England, thanks to all the major transport links available within the region.
Most golf course hotels have 18 hole courses for the experienced and 9 hole courses for beginners. Some of the 4 and 5 star hotels provide extra facilities such as golf tuition and coaching for beginners and for those who want to improve your game. The shorter courses are ideal for kids and beginners, and are an excellent way to spend time with the family. However, the 18 hole courses are quite challenging – some of them are even used to host international PGA events!
When selecting a golf course hotel, it is always wise to select a location which has various attractions and events nearby, as you can do other things apart from playing golf on your trip or break. This way you can combine your golfing holiday with sightseeing and culture, for a perfect holiday.
